โจ Technical Specifications
Pommard is historically celebrated for producing some of the most robust and structured red wines in the Cรดte de Beaune, often described as masculine. However, the Premier Cru 'Grands Epenots' vineyard, situated on the lower slopes near the border of Beaune, offers a remarkably refined expression of this appellation. The iron-rich, clay-limestone soils of this ancient climat yield a Pinot Noir that beautifully marries Pommard's signature power with an unexpected, velvety grace. Maison Joseph Drouhin approaches this exceptional terroir with characteristic restraint, employing biodynamic farming, gentle maceration, and aging in French oak barrels to preserve the purity of the fruit. The result is a wine of profound depth, showing dark cherry, earthy spice, and structured tannins that soften beautifully with age.
๐พ About the Producer
Founded in 1880 by Joseph Drouhin, Maison Joseph Drouhin is an iconic Burgundian estate headquartered in the historic heart of Beaune, France. Under the continuous stewardship of the Drouhin family across four generations, the domaine has expanded its holdings across premier appellations spanning the Cรดte de Nuits, Cรดte de Beaune, Chablis, and Oregon's Willamette Valley. Dedicated to certified organic and biodynamic viticulture, their winemaking philosophy prioritizes natural balance, purity, and the unadorned expression of individual terroirs. The house is globally celebrated for its benchmark Pinot Noir and Chardonnay bottlings, notably the legendary Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Mouches and Montrachet Grand Cru Marquis de Laguiche.
