Crafted by the historic house of Joseph Drouhin, founded in Beaune in 1880, this elegant white Burgundy originates from the Mâcon-Lugny appellation. The name 'Les Crays' refers to a specific, highly-regarded hillside terroir characterized by its intensely stony, limestone-rich soil, derived from an ancient Celtic word for chalk or gravelly land. This unique geological feature imparts a distinctive mineral tension to the 100% Chardonnay grapes grown here. Drouhin vinifies this cuvée primarily in stainless steel vats to preserve the pristine purity of the fruit, capturing the vibrant energy, white flower aromas, and crisp citrus notes that define the best of the southern Burgundy hillsides. It stands as a testament to the Drouhin family's long-standing commitment to showcasing the diverse, terroir-driven nuances of the region.

Maison Joseph Drouhin blev grundlagt i Beaune i 1880 af Joseph Drouhin og regnes i dag blandt Bourgognes mest prominente familieejede vinhuse. Huset ledes i dag af fjerde generation – Frédéric, Philippe, Laurent og chefvinmager Véronique Boss-Drouhin – og råder over mellem 90 og 100 hektar økologisk og biodynamisk dyrkede vinmarker fordelt over Chablis, Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, Côte Chalonnaise samt Willamette Valley i Oregon. Drouhins vinøse signatur udspringer af kalk- og lerholdige terroirs, gæring med den naturlige gær, en nænsom ekstraktion og en velafbalanceret modning på franske egetræsfade.
