The Schubertslay is a mythical vineyard site in Piesport, a tiny, amphitheater-like parcel of extremely steep, south-facing slopes dominated by soft blue slate. It is home to some of the oldest, ungrafted Riesling vines in the Mosel, some of which are over a century old. Julian Haart's Piesporter Schubertslay Riesling Auslese 1* represents the pinnacle of sweet winemaking from this historic site. Fermented spontaneously in traditional neutral oak Fuder, this Auslese captures the intense concentration of botrytis while maintaining the feather-light, electric acidity that defines Haart's style. It is a wine of legendary precision, balancing rich, honeyed stone fruit with a profound, salty minerality derived from the ancient slate soils.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Established in 2010 by Julian Haart in the historic winegrowing village of Piesport, this Mosel estate has quickly risen to cult status. Having trained under legendary mentors like Klaus Peter Keller and Egon Müller, Haart applies a meticulous, hands-on approach to farming steep, slate-rich grand cru vineyards such as Piesporter Goldtröpfchen, Schubertslay, and Wintricher Ohligsberg. The estate's winemaking philosophy relies on organic viticulture, spontaneous fermentation in traditional oak Fuder, and minimal intervention to preserve the natural tension and purity of the fruit. Julian Haart is globally celebrated for producing incredibly precise, mineral-driven, and elegant Rieslings, particularly his legendary, feather-light Kabinett expressions.
