✨ wine.spec_sheet

Perched on an incredibly steep, amphitheater-like bend of the Mosel River, the Piesporter Schubertslay is a legendary grand cru vineyard renowned for its ancient, ungrafted Riesling vines rooted in pure blue slate. Julian Haart coaxes an ethereal complexity from this historic site, which is widely considered one of the crown jewels of the region. The 'Nr2' designation refers to a specific, highly curated Fuder cask selection. Produced using traditional, low-intervention methods including spontaneous fermentation in old oak barrels, this Spätlese beautifully balances the natural residual sweetness of late-harvested grapes with a striking, electric vein of slate-driven acidity. It is a masterclass in tension, offering a weightless yet intensely aromatic profile filled with stone fruits, white flowers, and smoky mineral undertones.

Established in 2010 by Julian Haart in the historic winegrowing village of Piesport, this Mosel estate has quickly risen to cult status. Having trained under legendary mentors like Klaus Peter Keller and Egon Müller, Haart applies a meticulous, hands-on approach to farming steep, slate-rich grand cru vineyards such as Piesporter Goldtröpfchen, Schubertslay, and Wintricher Ohligsberg. The estate's winemaking philosophy relies on organic viticulture, spontaneous fermentation in traditional oak Fuder, and minimal intervention to preserve the natural tension and purity of the fruit. Julian Haart is globally celebrated for producing incredibly precise, mineral-driven, and elegant Rieslings, particularly his legendary, feather-light Kabinett expressions.
