The Piesporter Schubertslay is one of the Mosel's most legendary and exclusive vineyard sites. A tiny, steep, south-facing amphitheater of blue Devonian slate, it is home to extremely old, ungrafted Riesling vines that yield fruit of astonishing concentration. Julian Haart's Spätlese from this historic site is a masterclass in tension and elegance. Fermented spontaneously in traditional oak Fuder, this wine beautifully captures the interplay between luscious, honeyed stone fruit sweetness and a vibrant, crystalline vein of slate-driven acidity. The Schubertslay vineyard's unique microclimate and ancient soils imbue the wine with a profound depth, complexity, and a feather-light texture that defines the very pinnacle of Mosel winemaking heritage.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Established in 2010 by Julian Haart in the historic winegrowing village of Piesport, this Mosel estate has quickly risen to cult status. Having trained under legendary mentors like Klaus Peter Keller and Egon Müller, Haart applies a meticulous, hands-on approach to farming steep, slate-rich grand cru vineyards such as Piesporter Goldtröpfchen, Schubertslay, and Wintricher Ohligsberg. The estate's winemaking philosophy relies on organic viticulture, spontaneous fermentation in traditional oak Fuder, and minimal intervention to preserve the natural tension and purity of the fruit. Julian Haart is globally celebrated for producing incredibly precise, mineral-driven, and elegant Rieslings, particularly his legendary, feather-light Kabinett expressions.
