Nestled along a dramatic loop of the Mosel River, the Wintricher Ohligsberg vineyard is a historic grand cru site renowned for its steep, weathered gray-blue slate slopes. Julian Haart's 'Alte Reben wurzelecht' bottling represents the pinnacle of this terroir, sourced from ancient, ungrafted Riesling vines that escaped the phylloxera epidemic of the late 19th century. These deep-rooted, own-rooted vines yield minuscule quantities of highly concentrated fruit. In the cellar, Haart coaxes out the vineyard's cool, mineral essence through spontaneous fermentation in traditional neutral oak casks.
