Nestled along a dramatic loop of the Mosel River, the Wintricher Ohligsberg vineyard is a historic grand cru site renowned for its steep, weathered gray-blue slate slopes. Julian Haart's 'Alte Reben wurzelecht' bottling represents the pinnacle of this terroir, sourced from ancient, ungrafted Riesling vines that escaped the phylloxera epidemic of the late 19th century. These deep-rooted, own-rooted vines yield minuscule quantities of highly concentrated fruit. In the cellar, Haart coaxes out the vineyard's cool, mineral essence through spontaneous fermentation in traditional neutral oak casks. The resulting Kabinett is a masterclass in tension: feather-light on the palate yet vibrating with electric acidity, crystalline slate minerality, and a delicate, fleeting sweetness that defines the classic Mosel style.

Established in 2010 by Julian Haart in the historic winegrowing village of Piesport, this Mosel estate has quickly risen to cult status. Having trained under legendary mentors like Klaus Peter Keller and Egon Müller, Haart applies a meticulous, hands-on approach to farming steep, slate-rich grand cru vineyards such as Piesporter Goldtröpfchen, Schubertslay, and Wintricher Ohligsberg. The estate's winemaking philosophy relies on organic viticulture, spontaneous fermentation in traditional oak Fuder, and minimal intervention to preserve the natural tension and purity of the fruit. Julian Haart is globally celebrated for producing incredibly precise, mineral-driven, and elegant Rieslings, particularly his legendary, feather-light Kabinett expressions.
