The Wintricher Ohligsberg is one of the Mosel's historic gems, a steep, south-southwest-facing amphitheater of weathered blue Devonian slate. Highly esteemed in the 19th century, this vineyard fell into relative obscurity before being resurrected by quality-minded growers like Julian Haart. The 'Nr 8' Spätlese represents a masterclass in Mosel tension. Fermented spontaneously in traditional oak Fuder, this wine captures the cool microclimate of the Ohligsberg, where cold air drainage preserves electric acidity. The result is a feather-light yet intensely concentrated Riesling, where the natural residual sweetness is perfectly balanced by a crystalline, mineral drive and delicate notes of orchard fruit and wild herbs.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Established in 2010 by Julian Haart in the historic winegrowing village of Piesport, this Mosel estate has quickly risen to cult status. Having trained under legendary mentors like Klaus Peter Keller and Egon Müller, Haart applies a meticulous, hands-on approach to farming steep, slate-rich grand cru vineyards such as Piesporter Goldtröpfchen, Schubertslay, and Wintricher Ohligsberg. The estate's winemaking philosophy relies on organic viticulture, spontaneous fermentation in traditional oak Fuder, and minimal intervention to preserve the natural tension and purity of the fruit. Julian Haart is globally celebrated for producing incredibly precise, mineral-driven, and elegant Rieslings, particularly his legendary, feather-light Kabinett expressions.
