Kavalan's Ex-Bourbon Oak Single Malt Whisky is a testament to the revolutionary impact of subtropical maturation. Crafted in Yilan County, Taiwan, this expression is matured in hand-selected, first-fill American ex-bourbon casks. The distillery utilizes the pure, mineral-rich meltwater from the Snow Mountain range, which contributes to the spirit's signature clean and silky mouthfeel. Due to Taiwan's intense heat and humidity, the interaction between the spirit and the oak is highly accelerated, extracting rich vanilla, coconut, and soft spice notes far more rapidly than in traditional cool-climate distilling regions. This results in a vibrant, multi-layered single malt that beautifully balances Kavalan's signature tropical fruitiness with the sweet, woody elegance of classic bourbon barrels.

Founded in 2005 by the King Car Group under founder Tien-Tsai Lee, Kavalan Distillery is located in Yuanshan Township within Yilan County, Taiwan. Named after the indigenous Kavalan people of the Yilan plain, the distillery pioneered world-class Taiwanese single malt whisky production using mineral-rich meltwater sourced from the nearby Snow Mountain range. Kavalan capitalizes on Taiwan's intense subtropical climate, which accelerates the wood maturation process to yield remarkably complex, rich, and mature flavor profiles in a compressed timeframe. The distillery is globally renowned for its multi-award-winning Single Malt Solist series, celebrated for exquisite cask-strength releases matured in Sherry, Port, Ex-Bourbon, and Vinho Barrique casks.
