The local subtropical climate, characterized by intense heat and humidity, acts as an accelerator, forcing the spirit deep into the oak pores and extracting rich flavors at a rate far exceeding traditional cool-climate maturation. The water used is drawn from the pristine, mineral-rich springs of the nearby Snow Mountain, ensuring a clean and smooth spirit base. Founded in 2005 by the King Car Group under founder Tien-Tsai Lee, Kavalan Distillery is located in Yuanshan Township within Yilan County, Taiwan. Named after the indigenous Kavalan people of the Yilan plain, the distillery pioneered world-class Taiwanese single malt whisky production using mineral-rich meltwater sourced from the nearby Snow Mountain range.
