Crafted in the subtropical climate of Yilan County, Taiwan, the Kavalan Triple Sherry Cask is a masterful showcase of cask selection and rapid maturation. This single malt brings together three distinct sherry wood influences: the dry, nutty complexity of Oloroso; the rich, syrupy sweetness of Pedro Ximénez; and the delicate, floral fruitiness of Moscatel. Kavalan's distillers exploit the intense heat and humidity of Taiwan, which accelerates the interaction between the spirit and the oak, achieving a depth of flavor in just a few years that would take decades in cooler climates. Founded in 2005 by the King Car Group under founder Tien-Tsai Lee, Kavalan Distillery is located in Yuanshan Township within Yilan County, Taiwan. Named after the indigenous Kavalan people of the Yilan plain, the distillery pioneered world-class Taiwanese single malt whisky production using mineral-rich meltwater sourced from the nearby Snow Mountain range. Kavalan capitalizes on Taiwan's intense subtropical climate, which accelerates the wood maturation process to yield remarkably complex, rich, and mature flavor profiles in a compressed timeframe.
