The Jackson Estate Cloud Landing Chardonnay is a brilliant showcase of the extreme maritime terroir of the Petaluma Gap AVA in Sonoma County. The vineyard's name, Cloud Landing, pays homage to the dramatic coastal fog that rolls in from the Pacific Ocean through the Bodega Bay gap, literally 'landing' over the vines and blanketing them in a cool, moisture-rich shroud. This daily influx of fog, combined with relentless afternoon winds, creates a microclimate with one of the longest growing seasons in California. These challenging conditions force the Chardonnay grapes to ripen slowly, preserving a vibrant, laser-like natural acidity while allowing complex phenolic flavors to develop. Crafted with traditional Burgundian techniques, the wine undergoes barrel fermentation and extensive sur lie aging with regular battonage (lees stirring), resulting in a beautifully structured Chardonnay that seamlessly balances crisp, cool-climate minerality with a rich, creamy texture.

Kendall-Jackson blev grundlagt i 1982 af Jess Jackson og har siden udviklet sig til et af californisk vinavl mest velkendte ikoner, stadig drevet som en familieejet virksomhed anført af Barbara Banke. Vingården har base i Russian River Valley med Kendall-Jackson Wine Estate & Gardens i Santa Rosa og dyrker egne parceller i førsteklasses kystnære terroirs på tværs af Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, Monterey og Santa Barbara County. Disse kystpåvirkede appellationer nyder godt af svalende havgus, grusholdige alluviale aflejringer og lange, rolige vækstsæsoner. Vinavlen drives efter certificerede bæredygtighedsstandarder i henhold til CCSW- og SIP-retningslinjerne.
