This limited-production, ultra-premium Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant blend is meticulously crafted from low-yielding, high-altitude mountain and hillside vineyards across California's premier coastal AVAs, particularly Napa Valley and Sonoma County. The wine undergoes rigorous barrel selection, with only the most exceptional lots chosen for extended aging in new French oak. Kendall-Jackson was established in 1982 by Jess Stonestreet Jackson, originating from an 80-acre orchard in Lake County that he replanted to grapevine stock in 1974. Today anchored at its Wine Estate and Gardens in Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, the family-owned producer has evolved into an architectural pillar of California viticulture under the stewardship of Barbara Banke and the Jackson family. Viticulture centers on cool-climate coastal AVAs spanning Sonoma, Napa, Monterey, Mendocino, and Santa Barbara counties. Utilizing steep hillside, benchland, and ridge plantings with well-drained volcanic and alluvial loam profiles, the estate benefits from persistent marine layers and significant diurnal shifts. All estate vineyards operate under third-party sustainable certifications (CCSW and SIP). Winemaking merges separate-lot barrel fermentation and French oak maturation.
