Sourced from the sun-drenched, arid landscape of the Stone Tree Vineyard in Washington's Wahluke Slope AVA, 'The Apocalypse' Malbec by Kerloo Cellars is a dramatic expression of a dramatic terroir. The vineyard itself sits on a gravelly, south-facing slope formed by ancient glacial floods, where intense heat during the day and cool desert nights allow Malbec to achieve optimal phenolic ripeness while retaining essential acidity. Winemaker Ryan Crane employs a low-intervention approach, utilizing neutral oak aging to preserve the pure, dark-fruited, and savory character of the grape. The name 'The Apocalypse' pays homage to the extreme, almost primordial growing conditions of the Wahluke Slope, resulting in a wine of immense depth, structural integrity, and velvety texture.
