Kilikanoon's Revelation Shiraz represents the pinnacle of the estate's winemaking philosophy, a rare and majestic expression of Clare Valley's unique terroir. Sourced from select parcels of ancient, low-yielding Shiraz vines planted in the region's prized red soils over limestone, this wine is crafted only in exceptional vintages. The Clare Valley's diurnal temperature variation—with warm daytime sun followed by cool, crisp nights—allows the grapes to achieve optimal phenolic ripeness while retaining a vibrant, natural acidity. In the cellar, traditional techniques such as open-top fermentation and basket pressing are employed to gently extract the deep, concentrated flavors of dark berries, licorice, and complex spice. The wine is then matured in fine French oak hogsheads, seamlessly integrating structured tannins with opulent fruit. The name 'Revelation' itself pays homage to those transcendent moments in the cellar when a particular barrel or parcel reveals an extraordinary, almost mystical depth of character, capturing the very soul of South Australian Shiraz.

Established in 1997 by winemaker Kevin Mitchell alongside his viticulturist father Mort Mitchell, Kilikanoon has evolved into one of the Clare Valley’s definitive benchmark estates. Headquartered at an 1860s stone farmhouse in Penwortham, the estate commands access to premier vineyard parcels spanning diverse subregions, including Watervale, Leasingham, and Auburn. Altitudes range from 220 to over 600 meters above sea level, engendering dramatic diurnal shifts that preserve vital acidity and balance the Mediterranean sun. Kilikanoon champions sustainable farming across varied terroirs characterized by red terra rossa over limestone and slate-rich soils, most famously showcased in the ungrafted, dry-grown 1865 Attunga parcel. In the cellar, the winemaking philosophy pairs traditional fermentation techniques with precise maturation in French oak and unadorned vinification for aromatic whites.
