Hailing from the legendary steep slopes of Assmannshausen, the Höllenberg vineyard is Germany's most historic enclave for red wine, celebrated since the Middle Ages for its unique violet phyllite slate soils. Weingut Künstler's Grosses Gewächs (GG) from this site represents the pinnacle of Rheingau Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir). The slate soils absorb the sun's warmth and impart a distinctive smoky minerality, wild berry aromatics, and a silky yet firm structure to the wine. Weingut Künstler was established in Hochheim am Main in 1965 by Franz Künstler, reviving a long-standing family winemaking tradition that originated in South Moravia before World War II.
