Hailing from the prestigious Rioja Alavesa subregion, Torre de Oña represents a modern, terroir-driven chapter in the storied history of La Rioja Alta, S.A., which acquired the estate in 1995. Located in the picturesque village of Páganos, the vineyards are dramatically sheltered by the Sierra de Cantabria mountains, creating a unique microclimate where clay-limestone soils yield Tempranillo of exceptional elegance and fresh acidity. The Lat 42 designation pays homage to the 42nd parallel north, a latitude famous for hosting some of the world's finest wine-growing regions. This wine is crafted with a contemporary touch, utilizing a meticulous selection of estate-grown Tempranillo, often complemented by a touch of Mazuelo. It undergoes careful aging in a combination of French and American oak barrels, balancing vibrant dark fruit and floral notes with refined spices, toast, and supple tannins.

La Rioja Alta, S.A. blev grundlagt i 1890 af fem visionære baskiske og riojanske familier i Haros historiske stationskvarter, Barrio de la Estación, og fremstår i dag som et af de mest urokkelige pejlemærker for klassisk vinfremstilling i Rioja.
