✨ Technical Specifications

Released in 2016 to commemorate the bicentenary of the legendary Islay distillery founded in 1816, the Lagavulin 25 Year Old 200th Anniversary Edition is a historic bottling that pays tribute to two centuries of distilling excellence on the rugged shores of Lagavulin Bay. This exceptional single malt was matured exclusively in sherry casks for a quarter of a century, allowing the distillery's signature intense peat smoke and maritime brine to beautifully integrate with deep, rich notes of dried figs, dark chocolate, and warm wood spices. Bottled at cask strength, it represents a rare, complex, and deeply historical expression of Islay's unique peat-rich terroir and slow distillation heritage.

🍾 About the Producer

Officially established in 1816 by John Johnston, Lagavulin is situated on the windswept southern coast of the Isle of Islay, Scotland, overlooking the dramatic ruins of Dunyvaig Castle. Today owned by Diageo, the historic distillery is celebrated for its uncompromising dedication to traditional methods, utilising heavily peated malt and remarkably slow distillation in distinctive pear-shaped pot stills. This meticulous process yields an intensely rich, oily, and complex spirit that embodies the quintessential maritime character of southern Islay. Renowned for balancing ferocious peat smoke, brine, and medicinal notes with deep dried-fruit sweetness, Lagavulin achieves its definitive expression in its legendary 16 Year Old single malt.
