Lagavulin 8 Year Old Single Malt was originally released in 2016 to commemorate the distillery's bicentenary, drawing direct inspiration from the historic visit of legendary whisky chronicler Alfred Barnard in the 1880s. During his tour of Islay, Barnard sampled an eight-year-old Lagavulin and declared it 'exceptionally fine.' This expression captures the vibrant, untamed spirit of the distillery's signature slow distillation process. Matured primarily in refill American oak casks, it showcases a brighter, more intense peat profile than its older sibling, the iconic 16-year-old. The coastal Islay terroir is vividly present, delivering a powerful punch of clean wood smoke, maritime brine, and a surprising undercurrent of sweet citrus and cracked black pepper.

Officially established in 1816 by John Johnston on the southern coast of the Isle of Islay, Scotland, Lagavulin is one of the world's most iconic single malt Scotch whisky distilleries, now owned by Diageo. Renowned for its exceptionally slow distillation process in characteristic pear-shaped stills, the distillery produces a rich, intensely peaty, and complex spirit. Lagavulin's signature style is defined by deep smoke, maritime brine, and dried fruit sweetness, epitomized by its legendary 16 Year Old expression and highly coveted limited releases like the 12 Year Old Special Releases and historic older bottlings matured in oak casks over decades-long periods of quiet aging on the shores of Lagavulin Bay Port Ellen Islay Scotland United Kingdom PA42 7DZ Scotland United Kingdom https://www.malts.com/en-row/distilleries/lagavulin
