Distilled in 2002 and bottled in 2018 as Batch lgv.4/507, this double-matured single malt Scotch whisky undergoes its primary maturation in traditional oak casks before being transferred to seasoned PX sherry wood. This second maturation imparts deep, syrupy layers of sun-dried raisins, dates, and dark chocolate, which beautifully temper Lagavulin's fierce, iodine-soaked peat smoke, Lapsang Souchong tea notes, and coastal brine. Established in 1816 on the rocky shores of Islay, Lagavulin relies on exceptionally slow distillation in pear-shaped stills to create a heavy, complex spirit.
