Established in 1815 by brothers Donald and Alexander Johnston on the rugged south coast of Islay, Laphroaig is legendary for its intensely medicinal, smoky, and maritime character. This expression was matured exclusively in ex-bourbon American oak barrels, allowing the distillery's signature heavy peat and cold-smoked barley notes to mellow gracefully over sixteen years.
