✨ wine.spec_sheet

Laphroaig, founded in 1815 by brothers Donald and Alexander Johnston on the rugged south coast of Islay, is legendary for its uncompromisingly smoky, medicinal, and peat-rich character. The 'Select' expression represents a carefully curated marriage of different maturation styles. It draws from a selection of casks including Oloroso sherry butts, virgin American oak, Pedro Xim nez seasoned hogsheads, Quarter Casks, and first-fill Bourbon barrels. This complex cask regimen tempers the fierce, medicinal Islay peat smoke with layers of sweet oak, dried fruit, and vanilla. According to local lore, the distillery's unique water source, the Kilbride Stream, runs through peat beds, contributing to the signature flavor profile that has earned Laphroaig a Royal Warrant from the British Royal Family.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Established in 1815 by brothers Donald and Alexander Johnston, Laphroaig Distillery is situated on the rugged south coast of the Isle of Islay, Scotland. Celebrated globally for its distinctively bold, peaty, and medicinal character, the distillery remains one of the few that still utilizes traditional floor maltings to dry its barley over local, hand-cut Islay peat. This artisanal heritage, paired with distillation in unique copper pot stills and maturation primarily in first-fill ex-bourbon casks, defines its legendary portfolio, which includes the iconic 10 Year Old, Quarter Cask, and highly coveted aged limited editions.
