Hailing from the wind-swept southern coast of Islay, Laphroaig has been crafting its famously polarizing, deeply peated single malt Scotch whisky since 1815. Founded by brothers Donald and Alexander Johnston, the distillery is legendary for its traditional floor malting and its use of local Glenmachrie peat, which is rich in seaweed and sphagnum moss, imparting a distinctively medicinal, iodine, and sea-spray character. This specific release, 'Full Cask' No 44078, is a single cask expression aged entirely in an ex-bourbon barrel. The American oak infuses the intensely smoky, tarry spirit with luscious layers of sweet vanilla, toasted coconut, and warm baking spices, creating a dramatic yet harmonious tension between sweet wood and coastal peat fire.

Laphroaig blev grundlagt i 1815 af brødrene Donald og Alexander Johnston på den rå sydkyst af Isle of Islay og regnes i dag for et af Skotlands mest ikoniske og karakterfulde single malt-destillerier. Kombinationen af koldrøgning og blødt, tørveholdigt vand fra Kilbride Reservoir giver en umiskendelig spiritus, der er rig på noter af tang, jod og markant tørverøg.
