Laurent-Perrier's Alexandra Rosé is a legendary prestige cuvée born from a father's love. In 1987, Bernard de Nonancourt, the visionary head of the house, secretly created this rare vintage rosé to present to his eldest daughter, Alexandra, on her wedding day. Unlike most rosé Champagnes made by blending still red and white wines, Alexandra Rosé is crafted using a highly unusual and demanding co-maceration technique. Pinot Noir grapes from prestigious Grand Cru villages like Ambonnay, Bouzy, and Verzenay are macerated, and during this process, Grand Cru Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs is integrated. This simultaneous maceration harmonizes the structural power of Pinot Noir (typically making up 80% of the blend) with the elegant freshness of Chardonnay (around 20%). The wine undergoes extensive cellar aging of at least a decade, resulting in a complex, copper-apricot hued masterpiece with notes of candied red fruits, orange peel, and dried white flowers.
