✨ Technical Specifications
Crafted from clay-limestone terraces and alluvial plains across the southern Rhône Valley, this regional red is centered on Grenache supported by Syrah, Carignan, and Mourvèdre. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel vats, preserving bright berry fruit and wild herbal notes without the masking influence of new wood. The gentle extraction regimen highlights soft tannins and accessible texture, making it an archetypal everyday expression of Mediterranean viticulture.
🍾 About the Producer
Léon Perdigal represents a dedicated historical label produced by Maison Ogier, the venerable négociant-éleveur established in 1859 in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Named in homage to Ogier's legendary first cellar master—a local vigneron affectionately known as the 'Pope of the Keys'—the range serves as an ambassador for classic southern Rhône Valley terroir. Sourcing fruit across prime appellations including Côtes du Rhône, Vacqueyras, and Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the viticultural canvas encompasses signature galets roulés terraces, red clay, sandstone, and limestone parcels shaped by intense Mediterranean sunshine and the mistral wind. In the cellar, the winemaking philosophy favors purity of fruit, balance, and regional typicity over excessive extraction. Vinification typically occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel or traditional concrete vats, resulting in accessible, supple, and spicy cuvées anchored by Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault.
