Lindemans blev grundlagt i 1843 af den britiske flådelæge Dr. Henry John Lindeman ved Cawarra ved Paterson River i Hunter Valley og hører til blandt Australiens ældste og mest indflydelsesrige vinhuse. I dag drives vinhuset under Treasury Wine Estates og har udviklet sig fra de historiske rødder i Hunter Valley til at omfatte førsteklasses vinmarker i Coonawarras berømte terra rossa-jordbund, i Padthaway og på tværs af det bredere South Eastern Australia-område.
