✨ Technical Specifications
Domaine de Valmoissine is situated on the site of the ancient monastery of Valmoissine, located 500 meters above sea level in the Var region of Provence. This high-altitude location is the secret to its success; the southern sun provides optimal ripening, while the cool alpine nights preserve the fresh acidity and delicate aromatics essential for Pinot Noir. Louis Latour applies traditional Burgundian winemaking techniques here, harvesting by hand and fermenting in open stainless steel vats before aging the wine in stainless steel to maintain its bright, fruit-forward character. The result is a wine that beautifully bridges the gap between the warmth of Provence and the elegant structure of Burgundy, offering ripe cherry and wild strawberry notes underpinned by subtle herbal garrigue undertones.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 1797 and rooted in Aloxe-Corton since the 17th century, Maison Louis Latour is one of Burgundy's most historic family-owned wine merchants and domaine producers, managed across more than eleven generations. Headquartered in Beaune, the house holds the largest collection of Grand Cru vineyard acreage in the Côte d'Or, notably including legendary holdings on the hill of Corton such as Corton-Charlemagne and Château Corton Grancey. Renowned for operating its own traditional cooperage and pioneering ventures into regions like the Ardèche and Provence, the maison upholds a classic, terroir-focused winemaking philosophy. Its portfolio is globally celebrated for producing impeccably balanced, age-worthy expressions of Pinot Noir and refined, mineral-driven Chardonnay.
