Originally created in 1876 to satisfy the demanding tastes of Tsar Alexander II of Russia—who requested a clear, flat-bottomed crystal bottle to prevent hidden explosives—Cristal has long been a symbol of ultimate prestige. The Late Release program elevates this legacy by subjecting the iconic blend of approximately 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, sourced exclusively from pristine Grand Cru vineyards in the Montagne de Reims, Vallee de la Marne, and Cote des Blancs, to an extraordinarily prolonged aging process. These bottles rest on their lees for over a decade, followed by several more years of post-disgorgement bottle aging in the deep chalk cellars of Reims.
