Deeply rooted in the historic soils of the Rhône Valley, M. Chapoutier has been a standard-bearer of French winemaking since 1808. Under the visionary guidance of Michel Chapoutier, the house pioneered biodynamic farming, a philosophy beautifully reflected in the Areca cuvée. This expressive red wine is crafted primarily from Grenache and Syrah, sourced from the sun-drenched terraced vineyards of the Southern Rhône. Here, the vines dig deep into clay-limestone soils strewn with galets roulés (rounded stones), which absorb the daytime heat and warm the vines through the night. To preserve the vibrant, unadulterated essence of the terroir, Chapoutier utilizes traditional fermentation in concrete or stainless steel vats, avoiding heavy oak influence. The resulting wine is a lively tapestry of ripe red berries, wild garrigue herbs, and a touch of cracked black pepper, embodying the rustic elegance and rich history of the Rhône.
