M. Chapoutier's Coteau de Chéry is a rare, single-vineyard expression of Viognier from one of the most legendary hillsides in the Condrieu appellation. The Coteau de Chéry vineyard is celebrated for its steep, south-facing granitic terraces that bask in optimal sunlight, allowing the Viognier grapes to achieve perfect ripeness while maintaining a core of vibrant minerality. Historically, this hillside is considered one of the historic cradles of Condrieu, having preserved its vines through the phylloxera crisis and the mid-20th-century decline of the appellation. Chapoutier's biodynamic farming practices and meticulous hand-harvesting ensure that the fruit reflects this unique terroir. The wine is fermented and aged in demi-muids with regular lees stirring (bâtonnage), resulting in a luxurious texture balanced by intense aromas of white peach, apricot, violet, and exotic spices.

M. Chapoutier blev grundlagt i 1808 i Tain-l'Hermitage i Rhônedalen og har siden udviklet sig til et af Frankrigs mest berømte vinhuse. Husets internationale stjernestatus tog for alvor fart, da Michel Chapoutier overtog roret i 1990 med sin kompromisløse vision. Som pioner inden for biodynamisk vindyrkning og minimal intervention i vinkælderen er ejendommen særligt hyldet for sine enkeltmarks-aftapninger, 'sélections parcellaires', der formidler de fineste terroiregenskaber på tværs af Rhône og andre vinregioner. Chapoutier, der siden 1996 ikonisk har haft punktskrift (blindeskrift) på alle etiketter, skaber referencepunkter for druer som Syrah, Marsanne og Grenache i prestigiøse appellationer som Hermitage, Côte-Rôtie og Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
