Hailing from the legendary slopes of the Hermitage hill, M. Chapoutier's 'Monier de la Sizeranne' is a masterclass in Northern Rhône Syrah. The wine's name pays homage to the historic Monier de la Sizeranne family, the original owners of the vineyard. Notably, Maurice de la Sizeranne, a blind member of the family who became a prominent figure in the blind community, inspired Michel Chapoutier to introduce Braille on all his wine labels starting in 1996. This deeply expressive red is crafted from a blend of distinct terroirs on the Hermitage hill, combining the structure of Les Bessards, the richness of Le Méal, and the elegance of Les Greffieux. The grapes are entirely destemmed and traditional fermentation takes place in concrete vats, followed by 12 to 18 months of aging in oak barrels, resulting in a wine of profound complexity, featuring dark fruit, cracked black pepper, and smoky mineral notes.
