Classified as a Vin de France, this cuvée bypasses the rigid constraints of traditional Burgundy appellation laws, granting the winemakers the creative freedom to craft a highly approachable, fruit-forward, and vibrant red. The name 'Deux Papes' (Two Popes) serves as a whimsical nod to the historical ties between Burgundy and the Avignon papacy, reflecting a spirit of history and camaraderie. Crafted with the same organic philosophy and minimal intervention applied to the estate's premier crus, the wine undergoes fermentation with indigenous yeasts and is aged carefully to preserve its bright red berry aromas, delicate earthy undertones, and soft, approachable tannins.

Founded in 1997 by American native Alex Gambal after studying viticulture in Beaune, Maison Alex Gambal represents a remarkable bridge between New World passion and classic Burgundian tradition. Operating from cellars along the historic boulevards of Beaune in the heart of Burgundy, the house evolved from a boutique négociant into an estate-holding domaine committed to organic viticultural principles and minimal-intervention vinification. The domaine crafts expressive, terroir-focused wines, utilizing indigenous yeasts and prudent oak aging to capture the pure essence of legendary climats.
