Maison Alex Gambal's Cuvée Deux Papes (sometimes referred to as Deux Papies) is a distinctive and playful expression of Pinot Noir. Classified as a Vin de France, this cuvée bypasses the rigid constraints of traditional Burgundy appellation laws, granting the winemakers the creative freedom to craft a highly approachable, fruit-forward, and vibrant red. The name 'Deux Papes' (Two Popes) serves as a whimsical nod to the historical ties between Burgundy and the Avignon papacy, reflecting a spirit of history and camaraderie. Crafted with the same organic philosophy and minimal intervention applied to the estate's premier crus, the wine undergoes fermentation with indigenous yeasts and is aged carefully to preserve its bright red berry aromas, delicate earthy undertones, and soft, approachable tannins.

Maison Alex Gambal blev grundlagt i 1997 af amerikanske Alex Gambal efter endte vinbrugsstudier i Beaune, og vinhuset udgør en bemærkelsesværdig bro mellem Den Nye Verdens passion og klassisk bourgognisk tradition. Med base i historiske kældre langs boulevarden i hjertet af Beaune har huset udviklet sig fra at være et boutique-négociantfirma til et fuldgyldigt domaine med egne vinmarker, dedikeret til økologiske principper og minimal indgriben i vinfremstillingen. Domaine Alex Gambal skaber udtryksfulde, terroir-drevne vine, hvor naturlig gær og nænsom fadlagring fremhæver den rene essens af de legendariske climats.
