In 1395, Duke Philip the Bold famously banished the 'disloyal' Gamay grape from the Côte d'Or in favor of Pinot Noir. Despite this historic exile, Gamay persisted, thriving in the granite-rich soils of southern Burgundy and select cool-climate plots. Marchand-Tawse embraces this heritage with their Gamay, sourcing fruit from meticulously managed parcels to craft a wine of exceptional purity and energy. Utilizing traditional Burgundian techniques, including gentle extraction, native yeast fermentation, and aging in neutral French oak and stainless steel, they preserve the grape's vibrant fruit character. The wine showcases a beautiful tension between bright red berries, wild strawberries, and cracked black pepper, grounded by a subtle stony minerality that reflects its classic terroir.
