✨ Technical Specifications

Hailing from the high-altitude premier cru climat of Puligny-Montrachet, Marchand-Tawse's 'La Garenne' is a masterclass in mineral-driven Chardonnay. The vineyard's name, historically referring to an ancient rabbit warren, hints at its wild, stony, and steep terrain located near the hamlet of Blagny. Here, thin, limestone-rich soils force the vines to dig deep, imparting a signature tension, flinty reduction, and vibrant acidity to the wine. Marchand-Tawse respects this unique terroir through meticulous biodynamic farming and minimal-intervention winemaking, fermenting the hand-harvested grapes with native yeasts and aging the wine in French oak barrels. The result is a white Burgundy of immense purity, showcasing aromas of white flowers, lemon curd, and crushed stones, balanced by a textured, saline finish.

🍾 About the Producer

Maison Marchand-Tawse was established in 2011 through the partnership of legendary Quebecois vigneron Pascal Marchand and Canadian entrepreneur and winery owner Moray Tawse. Based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the enterprise operates both as a boutique micro-négociant and a domaine estate, having expanded significantly with the acquisition of the historic Domaine Maume in Gevrey-Chambertin in 2012. Marchand, an early vanguard of biodynamic and organic viticulture in Burgundy during his tenures at Comte Armand and Domaine de la Vougeraie, collaborates closely with resident winemaker Mark Fincham. Together, they farm their estate plots organically and biodynamically, while sourcing rigorously from partner growers across premier and grand cru sites in the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. In the cellar, vinification emphasizes ambient yeasts, calculated whole-cluster inclusions, restrained extraction, and sensible oak élevage to safeguard fruit transparency and energetic mineral tension. Benchmark cuvées include their Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru, Musigny Grand Cru, and terroir-expressive Premier Crus from Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée, and Puligny-Montrachet.
