Crafted by the legendary Markus Molitor, this rare Eiswein comes from the Brauneberger Mandelgraben, a vineyard site in the Mosel valley historically named for the almond trees that thrived in its warm microclimate. Molitor's absolute dedication to quality is epitomized by the Goldkapsel (Gold Capsule) designation, representing an elite selection of the finest, most concentrated grapes. To produce this Eiswein, 100% Riesling grapes are left on the steep, slate-rich slopes until winter, when they are harvested by hand in the freezing pre-dawn hours at temperatures of minus seven degrees Celsius or lower. Pressing the frozen grapes yields a tiny quantity of incredibly concentrated, nectar-like juice. The resulting wine is a masterclass in balance, where intense, honeyed sweetness is perfectly countered by the vibrant, electric acidity characteristic of the Mosel's Devonian slate terroir.

Taking over his family's estate in 1984 at just twenty years old, Markus Molitor set out to restore the Mosel region's historic prestige through uncompromising quality and traditional craftsmanship. Based at the historic Haus Klosterberg in Bernkastel-Kues, the winery meticulously farms steep, slate-rich vineyards across the Mosel and Saar, utilizing extremely late hand-harvesting and spontaneous fermentation in neutral oak Fuder casks.
