Markus Molitor's Graacher Himmelreich Spätlese Feinherb is a masterclass in the tension and harmony of Middle Mosel Riesling. The Graacher Himmelreich, or 'Kingdom of Heaven' vineyard, is a steep, south-southwest-facing slope composed of deep, weathered Devonian slate. This unique terroir provides excellent drainage and heat retention, yielding Riesling of immense mineral drive and elegance. Markus Molitor, who took over his family's estate in 1984, is renowned for his uncompromising quality standards, including multiple meticulous hand-harvest passes. Taking over his family's estate in 1984 at just twenty years old, Markus Molitor set out to restore the Mosel region's historic prestige through uncompromising quality and traditional craftsmanship. Based at the historic Haus Klosterberg in Bernkastel-Kues, the winery meticulously farms steep, slate-rich vineyards across the Mosel and Saar, utilizing extremely late hand-harvesting and spontaneous fermentation in neutral oak Fuder casks.
