✨ Technical Specifications

Crafted by the legendary Markus Molitor, this Beerenauslese Goldkapsel (GK) is a monument to the steep, slate-laden slopes of the Ockfener Bockstein vineyard in the Saar valley. The Bockstein, a natural south-southwest-facing amphitheater, is renowned for its Devonian gravelly slate soils, which lend a profound, smoky minerality and vibrant acidity to the wine. Made from 100% Riesling, this ultra-concentrated sweet elixir is produced only in exceptional vintages through painstaking, berry-by-berry hand selection of noble rot (botrytis) affected grapes. Fermented slowly with indigenous yeasts, the Goldkapsel designation signifies an extraordinary level of richness, complexity, and selection. The history of Ockfener Bockstein dates back centuries, once highly prized by Prussian nobility, and Molitor's meticulous craftsmanship continues this legacy of producing some of the world's most cellar-worthy sweet wines.

🍾 About the Producer

Founded upon an eighth-generation family viticultural heritage, Weingut Markus Molitor was transformed in 1984 when twenty-year-old Markus Molitor took over the estate at Haus Klosterberg with the dedicated mission of restoring Mosel Riesling to its historic world-class stature. Situated in Bernkastel-Kues in Germany's legendary Mosel region, the winery meticulously cultivates precipitous slate vineyards across renowned grand cru sites such as Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, Wehlener Sonnenuhr, and Erdener Treppchen. Molitor practices low yields, ultra-selective late hand-harvesting, and gentle spontaneous fermentation in ancient, deep vaulted cellars with minimal intervention. The estate is globally celebrated for its site-expressive Rieslings—distinguished by white, green, and gold capsules indicating dry, off-dry, and botrytized sweet styles—as well as remarkably complex, structured Pinot Noir.
