The legendary 'Wehlener Sonnenuhr' (Sundial of Wehlen) vineyard, famous for its dizzyingly steep slopes of weathered blue Devonian slate, was named after the sundial erected in 1842 by Jodocus Prüm. To produce this rare Eiswein, grapes are left on the vine into the freezing depths of winter, harvested by hand only when temperatures drop to at least -7 degrees Celsius.
