Markus Molitor's Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Trockenbeerenauslese (TBA) 1* Goldkapsel represents the pinnacle of Mosel Riesling, sourced from the precipitously steep, blue Devonian slate slopes of the Zeltinger Sonnenuhr (Zeltingen Sundial) vineyard. The vineyard's name pays homage to the historic sundial erected in the 19th century to help workers track their hours. Under the visionary guidance of Markus Molitor, who took over his family estate in 1984, this wine is produced only in exceptional vintages. It is crafted from 100% Riesling grapes that have been painstakingly hand-selected, berry by shriveled berry, to capture the pure essence of noble rot (botrytis). The '1*' designation denotes a highly refined selection level, while the Goldkapsel signifies its status as an ultra-premium sweet wine. Fermented slowly using indigenous yeasts, this TBA harmonizes an extraordinary concentration of honeyed, exotic fruit flavors with the Mosel's trademark electric acidity and deep slate minerality.

Founded upon an eighth-generation family viticultural heritage, Weingut Markus Molitor was transformed in 1984 when twenty-year-old Markus Molitor took over the estate at Haus Klosterberg with the dedicated mission of restoring Mosel Riesling to its historic world-class stature. Situated in Bernkastel-Kues in Germany's legendary Mosel region, the winery meticulously cultivates precipitous slate vineyards across renowned grand cru sites such as Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, Wehlener Sonnenuhr, and Erdener Treppchen. Molitor practices low yields, ultra-selective late hand-harvesting, and gentle spontaneous fermentation in ancient, deep vaulted cellars with minimal intervention. The estate is globally celebrated for its site-expressive Rieslings—distinguished by white, green, and gold capsules indicating dry, off-dry, and botrytized sweet styles—as well as remarkably complex, structured Pinot Noir.
