Hailing from the historic cellars of Marqués de Riscal, a producer legendary for pioneering the modern renaissance of the Rueda region in Castilla y León, this distinguished white wine showcases the remarkable potential of the indigenous Verdejo grape. In the early 1970s, Marqués de Riscal, with the guidance of the renowned French enologist Émile Peynaud, revolutionized the region by introducing temperature-controlled stainless steel fermentation to preserve Verdejo's vibrant aromatics. With the 'Limousin' bottling, they took this innovation a step further by fermenting and aging the wine in casks crafted from the famous Limousin forest of France. Sourced from older, low-yielding vines grown in gravel-rich, stony soils, the wine undergoes lees stirring (bâtonnage) to develop a rich, creamy texture. The result is a sophisticated marriage of Verdejo's classic herbal and citrus brightness with the elegant, toasted, and spicy nuances gifted by fine French oak.

Marqués de Riscal blev grundlagt i 1858 af Camilo Hurtado de Amézaga i den historiske by Elciego og er en af de ældste og mest nyskabende vingårde i Rioja.
