The Giuseppe & Luisa Zinfandel is a deeply personal tribute to the founders of the Martinelli estate, Giuseppe Martinelli and Luisa Vellutini, who eloped from Tuscany in the late 19th century to establish a new life in the rugged terrain of Sonoma County. Planted by their grandson, Lee Martinelli Sr., this vineyard was established using heritage budwood from the family's historic Jackass Hill vineyard, ensuring a direct genetic link to the vines planted by Giuseppe and Luisa themselves. Situated in the Russian River Valley, the site benefits from warm days and cool, foggy nights, allowing the grapes to achieve optimal ripeness while retaining essential acidity. The wine is crafted using traditional, minimalist techniques, including fermentation with native yeasts and bottling unfined and unfiltered. The resulting Zinfandel is famously opulent, robust, and complex, showcasing intense dark fruit, warm baking spices, and a luxurious, velvety texture that reflects the family's multi-generational devotion to the land.

Martinelli Winery er en af de mest legendariske familieejede vingårde i Sonoma County med rødder helt tilbage til 1887, hvor de toscanske immigranter Giuseppe Martinelli og Luisa Vellutini plantede de første vinstokke i Russian River Valley. Husets absolutte kronjuvel er den berømte Jackass Hill – en faretruende stejl, uterrasseret skråning med en hældning på 60 grader, beplantet med historiske, gamle vinstokke af Zinfandel og Muscat of Alexandria. På over 450 acres fordelt over Russian River Valley og Fort Ross-Seaview dyrker Martinelli-familien køligklimapræget Pinot Noir og Chardonnay samt klassisk Zinfandel og Syrah. Vinmarkerne er anlagt på Goldridge-sandmuld og marint grus, stærkt influeret af den tætte kysttåge fra Stillehavet. I vineriet er fokus rettet mod et uforfalsket terroirudtryk via spontangæring med vildgær, præcis élevage på franske egetræsfade og minimal intervention, hvor vinene aftappes uden klaring eller filtrering. Ikoniske vine som Jackass Hill Zinfandel, Three Sisters Chardonnay og Zio Tony Ranch Pinot Noir forener på fornemste vis overdådig koncentration og spændstig syre med en dyb, imponerende struktur.
