β¨ Technical Specifications
Hailing from the breathtaking alpine landscapes of Trentino in Northern Italy, Mezzacorona's 'Firmian' Cabernet Sauvignon pays homage to the historic Castel Firmian, a medieval fortress overlooking the Adige Valley that once belonged to the noble Firmian family. Established in 1904, the Mezzacorona cooperative has mastered the art of mountain viticulture. This wine is crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown on the gravelly, well-drained alluvial soils of the valley floor and lower slopes, where warm daytime breezes from Lake Garda meet cool alpine night air. The grapes undergo traditional temperature-controlled fermentation on the skins, followed by a period of aging in oak barrels. The result is a classic Trentino red that beautifully balances mountain freshness with the structured, herbaceous, and dark-fruit character typical of the varietal.
πΎ About the Producer
Established in 1904 in the heart of Trentino, Mezzacorona stands as one of Italy's premier cooperative wine enterprises, uniting over 1,500 grower families across the foothills of the Italian Dolomites. The estate's viticultural footprint extends through the Adige Valley and the alluvial plain of the Piana Rotaliana, where gravel-rich soils, dramatic diurnal temperature shifts, and cooling Alpine breezes foster pristine fruit maturation. The co-op operates under rigorous SQNPI-certified sustainable viticulture, preserving biodiversity and indigenous flora across thousands of hectares. Vinification is anchored at the Cittadella del Vino, an eco-architectural landmark where precision, gravity flow, and temperature-controlled stainless steel fermentation preserve varietal purity and mountain freshness. Mezzacorona is internationally celebrated for crisp, mineral-etched white expressions such as its flagship Pinot Grigio, MΓΌller-Thurgau, and the refined Castel Firmian line, alongside regional reds like Teroldego Rotaliano, crafting wines characterized by radiant acidity, floral aromatics, and consummate Alpine elegance.
