Hailing from the historic Castell de la Bleda estate in the Catalunya region, Torres's Clos Ancestral is a liquid bridge to Spain's viticultural past. This wine is a key milestone in the Torres family's decades-long ancestral varieties project, which seeks to locate and revive pre-phylloxera grapes that were nearly lost to history. The soul of the blend is Moneu, an ancient red grape rediscovered growing wild in the late 1990s, which is seamlessly blended with traditional Ull de Llebre (Tempranillo) and Garnatxa (Grenache). Cultivated on clay-loam soils and aged carefully in French oak, Clos Ancestral delivers a vibrant expression of dark forest fruits, subtle herbaceous notes, and a distinct mineral freshness that pays homage to the Roman and medieval heritage of its vineyard site.
