Morandé's 'Aterciopelado'—meaning 'velvety' in Spanish—is a creative resurrection of Chile's viticultural heritage, born under the innovative 'Aventuras' label. This red blend marries País, the historic grape brought to Chile by Spanish missionaries in the 16th century, with Carignan from ancient, dry-farmed bush vines in the Secano Interior of the Maule Valley. Historically, País was relegated to rustic table wines, but Morandé reimagined its potential. By blending the light-bodied, earthy, and rustic País with the deep color, high acidity, and structure of old-vine Carignan, they craft a wine of surprising elegance, freshness, and plushness. Fermented using minimal-intervention techniques, it stands as a tribute to the resilient spirit of Maule's traditional growers and the historic clay-tinaja heritage of the region.
