Part of Via Morand's innovative 'Adventure' series, 'Creole' is a vibrant tribute to Chile's viticultural heritage, celebrating the rustic elegance of ancestral grape varieties. Sourced from old, dry-farmed bush vines in the Secano Interior of the Maule Valley, this blend revives the historic Pas—introduced by Spanish missionaries in the 16th century—and Cinsault, which found a second home in southern Chile in the mid-20th century. The winemaking process utilizes low-intervention techniques, including fermentation in concrete eggs and partial carbonic maceration, to preserve the bright, juicy, and floral profile of the fruit, showcasing the dynamic potential of Chile's oldest terroirs.
🍾 About the Producer
Viña Morandé was founded in 1996 by visionary winemaker Pablo Morandé, widely celebrated as the viticultural pioneer who introduced commercial vine plantings to the cool, maritime-influenced Casablanca Valley. Now operating under the Morandé Wine Group umbrella with historical headquarters and cellars centered in Pelequén, the estate farms extensively across prime Chilean macro-terroirs ranging from coastal Casablanca and Limarí to the granitic dry-farmed Secano Interior of Maule and Itata. Under the cellar direction of Ricardo Baettig alongside Pablo Morandé, the winery is renowned for innovative technical methods, including early adoption of high-density plantings, concrete eggs, and traditional untoasted foudres. Across whites and sparkling expressions, the house crafts crisp coastal whites and classical cuvées alongside boundary-pushing benchmark bottlings such as Edición Limitada Black Chardonnay, Bestiario, and the noble rot dessert wine Edición Limitada Golden Harvest Sauvignon Blanc, marrying varietal freshness with textural complexity.
