Viña Morandé's Edición Limitada Black Chardonnay is a testament to the winery's pioneering exploration of Chile's southern frontiers. Sourced from the cool, wind-swept vineyards of the South (Sur) region, particularly the volcanic soils of the Malleco Valley, this wine redefines Chilean Chardonnay. Winemakers utilize innovative vessels such as concrete eggs and large, untoasted French oak foudres for fermentation and aging. This minimal-intervention approach, combined with native yeast fermentation and extended lees contact, preserves the pristine, high-acid profile of the grapes while imparting a complex, textured mouthfeel and a distinct smoky, flinty minerality that reflects its unique terroir.

Viña Morandé blev grundlagt i 1996 af den visionære vinmager Pablo Morandé, som er almindeligt anerkendt for sin pionerindsats inden for vindyrkning i det kølige klima i Casablanca Valley. I dag rangerer vinhuset blandt Chiles mest innovative og respekterede producenter. Med vinmarker i førsteklasses terroirs på tværs af Casablanca, Maipo, Cachapoal og Maule forener huset klassisk håndværk med en utrættelig innovationslyst. I kælderen eksperimenteres der flittigt med utraditionelle modningsbeholdere såsom betonæg, keramiske amforaer og store franske egetræs-foudres. Morandé fremstiller en alsidig portefølje af rød-, hvid-, rosé- og mousserende vine, hvor især den toneangivende Gran Reserva-serie, den terroir-drevne Terrarum-linje og flagskibet House of Morandé – et klassisk blend i Bordeaux-stil – udmærker sig.
