✨ Technical Specifications
Hailing from the cool-climate pockets of Chile's Aconcagua region, this Gewürztraminer is a testament to Viña Morandé's pioneering spirit. When founder Pablo Morandé first championed cool-climate viticulture in these coastal-influenced valleys, he opened the door for aromatic Alsatian varieties to thrive in South America. Benefiting from the intense morning fogs and cooling breezes of the Pacific Ocean, the grapes undergo a slow, even ripening process that preserves their natural acidity while developing intense aromatic complexity. The resulting wine is a vibrant expression of terroir, showcasing classic notes of lychee, orange blossom, and exotic sweet spices, backed by a mineral undertone derived from the region's diverse clay and granitic soils.
🍾 About the Producer
Viña Morandé was founded in 1996 by visionary winemaker Pablo Morandé, widely celebrated as the viticultural pioneer who introduced commercial vine plantings to the cool, maritime-influenced Casablanca Valley. Now operating under the Morandé Wine Group umbrella with historical headquarters and cellars centered in Pelequén, the estate farms extensively across prime Chilean macro-terroirs ranging from coastal Casablanca and Limarí to the granitic dry-farmed Secano Interior of Maule and Itata. Under the cellar direction of Ricardo Baettig alongside Pablo Morandé, the winery is renowned for innovative technical methods, including early adoption of high-density plantings, concrete eggs, and traditional untoasted foudres. Across whites and sparkling expressions, the house crafts crisp coastal whites and classical cuvées alongside boundary-pushing benchmark bottlings such as Edición Limitada Black Chardonnay, Bestiario, and the noble rot dessert wine Edición Limitada Golden Harvest Sauvignon Blanc, marrying varietal freshness with textural complexity.
