Hailing from the cool-climate vineyards of the Aconcagua region, specifically the Casablanca Valley, Morandé's Gran Reserva Chardonnay is a tribute to viticultural pioneering. In the early 1980s, founder Pablo Morandé famously defied conventional wisdom by planting vines in this coastal zone, which was previously deemed too cold for quality grape growing. Today, this Chardonnay showcases the wisdom of that gamble. Benefiting from the morning fogs and cooling breezes of the Pacific Ocean, the grapes undergo a slow ripening process that preserves their natural acidity. The wine is fermented and aged in French oak barrels and traditional foudres, utilizing lees stirring (bâtonnage) to develop a rich, creamy texture that beautifully balances its vibrant, mineral-driven core.
