Crafted as part of Viña Morandé's pioneering exploration of Chile's diverse terroirs, the Mediterraneo is a groundbreaking red blend that challenges the traditional Cabernet-dominated landscape of the Central Valley. Inspired by the warm, sun-drenched Mediterranean-like climate of Chile's coastal and valley hillsides, this wine is a field-blend style homage to the southern Rhône. It artfully combines red varieties like Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, and Mourvèdre with a touch of white Rhône grapes like Roussanne and Marsanne, which are co-fermented to lift the aromatics and soften the texture. Aged in a combination of old oak foudres and concrete eggs, the wine emphasizes vibrant fruit purity, savory complexity, and a bright, mineral-driven acidity that reflects the ancient soils of the region. It stands as a testament to Morandé's restless spirit of innovation and their historical role in redefining Chilean viticulture.

Viña Morandé blev grundlagt i 1996 af den visionære vinmager Pablo Morandé, som er almindeligt anerkendt for sin pionerindsats inden for vindyrkning i det kølige klima i Casablanca Valley. I dag rangerer vinhuset blandt Chiles mest innovative og respekterede producenter. Med vinmarker i førsteklasses terroirs på tværs af Casablanca, Maipo, Cachapoal og Maule forener huset klassisk håndværk med en utrættelig innovationslyst. I kælderen eksperimenteres der flittigt med utraditionelle modningsbeholdere såsom betonæg, keramiske amforaer og store franske egetræs-foudres.
